OVERVIEW

Discover Oregon’s scenic coast as you travel along the Pacific Coast Highway # 101. You will pass the coastal towns of Gearhart and Seaside and the artist community of Cannon Beach. The Tillamook Cheese Factory is a farmer-owned cooperative established in 1909. The facility produces not only cheese and butter but also sour cream, yogurt, ice cream and cream cheese spread. Producing approximately 170,000 pounds of cheese and 4,050 gallons of ice cream daily. Enjoy exhibits showing the cheesemaking process, sample the cheeses and shop in the gift shop. You may even wish to purchase a tasty treat of ice cream or fudge from Tillamook to complete the experience. Visit the Garabaldi Maritime Museum to experience West Coast maritime history, showcasing the first explorers of the area. A short distance away is the boarding area to the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad and your 30-minute ride aboard a vintage passenger car pulled by either a historic steam locomotive or a vintage diesel locomotive. Your narrated ride will take you along the scenic Tillamook Coast waters. On your return trip, you will again enjoy the scenic wonders of the coast, a view of Haystack Rock, Saddle Mountain, and Neahkanie Mountain. Your local guide will regale you with the area's history and stories and provide scenic photo stops along the way, weather and time permitting. A picnic-style boxed lunch will be provided during your tour.
